Just off the I-80 corridor sits the newly dedicated ‘Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints’ Taylorsville Utah Temple. Its prominent location and Gothic Pioneer design stand as a beacon to the unique union of faith, architecture, and illumination.
At CIANA, we had the honor of crafting the exquisite decorative lighting fixtures that adorn this spiritual sanctuary. As we collaborated with designers from The Church and FFKR Architects, a vision began to take shape that would tell a story of craftsmanship, engineering, and artistry. From the ground level to the soaring heights of the third floor, each CIANA fixture speaks of evolution—simple yet eloquent at the beginning, ascending to the gloriously ornate as one reaches the Celestial Room.
"I wanted to be involved in this project the moment I saw the design package. These CIANA-crafted decorative lighting fixtures are a feat in engineering and manufacturing, and we are so proud of them! This is definitely a destination temple!"
Ragan Hill, CIANA Specialty Projects Manager
The design ethos for each piece was woven around a regal crown motif, a consistent element through each fixture, hinting at a grand narrative that speaks to the very essence of the temple’s purpose. With handmade molds, welded brass forms, and delicate Asfour crystal embellishments, these fixtures are not merely sources of light but artistic expressions that capture the spirit of the space they illuminate.
Every step of the custom process was infused with meticulous attention to detail, from the hand-sculpted molds to the double-layered crystal strands that cascade from the central pendants. The main stair pendant, a true marvel at 600 pounds, is a focal point that commands reverence and awe, a source of light and inspiration for all who enter the temple’s hallowed halls.
For us, this project meant more than showcasing our craftsmanship; it was about contributing to a larger narrative—a destination temple that will stand as a pillar of light for generations.
